![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | New Qantas Logo The Australian airline Qantas has changed its logo. In this picture you can see the new logo (foreground) and the old one (background) ![]() 23/July/2007 THE new Qantas logo has been spotted, revealing the Flying Kangaroo will live on as the symbol of the Australian airline - but in a new design. Qantas is set to unveil a new logo tomorrow but Channel Seven has revealed sneak pics of the new design this morning. The tail of Qantas airliners still carries the familiar red and white colour scheme but the kangaroo is more streamlined. What do you think of the new design? Tell us in the Feedback section at the bottom of this article. The new design comes after speculation in recent weeks that Qantas may have been preparing to scrap the kangaroo altogether.. "I can assure people Qantas will not be removing the kangaroo from its logo," executive general manager John Borghetti said today. The kangaroo was adapted from the Australian one penny coin and first used by Qantas in 1944. It was later redesigned by Sydney designer Gert Sellheim to feature wings in 1947, before taking on its current appearance in 1984. The airline tomorrow will also unveil the new cabin interiors for its fleet of double-decker Airbus A-380s, which will begin flying mid-next year. The airline will also show off the designs of its new international premium economy class seats. It's understood the fresh livery will also be on display, although any changes are expected to be modest. Last edited by Hypersonic; 07-24-2007 at 05:28 AM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New Qantas Logo To tell you the truth, if you would not have posted this I would have never noticed. It is interesting to know that the legs of the kangaroo look, in the new one, as if it is ready to jump into action, while the old one looks like it jumped into action. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New Qantas Logo I really have to say the new logo doesn't look too right. Those feet are just too long! I like the thinking of trying to simplify the kangaroo so it has less curves in its design, but the kangaroo looks out of proportions. Anyone asking the reason for this change? ... well here's the simple answer. With the now-old kangaroo design, the feet of the kangaroo would look amputated on the A380 since there are some no-paint zones on the A380 (the rear horizontal stabilisers). So that's why the feet of this new kangaroo are so stretched and angled too far forward. Here are some more pics of the Qantas 767 which was used to unveil the new scheme: New tail logo and the old one in the background: ![]() The new QANTAS titles, a bit more modern and sleek.. which I like: ![]() Side-view.. I like the title change, but the new 'roo is gonna take some getting used to: ![]() The A380 with the new 'roo and titles. You can really see how the increase in the size of the kangaroo works well with the A380: ![]() How the new design will look on QF's A330s, 787s and 747s: ![]() |

Just kidding guys. I agree with you both though.. I'd love to grab me one of those nice, big, shiney models. Out of those I'd gladly pick the 747. ![]() Interesting this is.. I'll be migrating to USA early January 2009, so I'll have the choice of flying on the Qantas A380, or the new V Australia 777-300ER (my favourite aircraft). As this will be my final flight to USA for a while, I better make the right decision. Should be fun trying to decide! ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: New Qantas Logo Sure did Mike... interesting that they had the 787 sitting there in the middle. I'm still trying to figure out whether that's a 787-8 model or a -9 ? I have to say.. it's a little funny seeing 787 models. They all have the wings of the aircraft waaaaay up there, but in real life the wings aren't anything like that (as shown during the 787 roll out). When in flight, then the wings will flex to such a shape though. Have to say though.. the 747.. gosh, she still looks prettier than the 787. ![]() --- Quote:
She lives over there, I live over here, so I'm making the move across the Pacific to be together.
