For several years, German automobile manufacturer Audi AG, a subsidiary of the Volkswagen Group, has been steadily migrating its engineering systems over to Linux. The company hopes to finish the job in 2007 and have the bulk of its servers and workstations running 64-bit Linux by the end of the year...

Interesting news. Wonder what other manufacturers are using. Is that why they their designs simple and elegant Yannis ?

Thats great, at least it's stable. Plus it's not like the engineers need to play games or something. But aren't these manufacturers using Unix system?

I don't know why any of us would give a flying fart about what OS engineers are using to run their various departments. The only thing this tells us about Audi is that they're keen to keep down IT related overhead.
