Could Q5 emerge in Geneva?

I have finally understood the meaning of this concept! Like Anim8or said this is a variant of the next A4 that will come in Sedan, Avant and Sportback versions. So essentially this is the Sportback version of the next A4 you are looking at and it seems that the next A4 may be closer to production than we think.
Yep,

Just like the Shooting Break concept was a modified next-gen TT, this Roadjet concept is really a modified B8 A4.

If you haven't already guessed, the B8 platform is complete. The A5 coupe is ready for production and the A4 sedan is getting the finishing touches for final approval.

What Audi is doing with these last two concepts is taking completed, but unreleased, new production cars and creating a new variant to test the public's reaction. It's a smart strategy: a new production car is revealed first as a modified concept a year before its debut. This creates twice as much industry buzz with essentially the same base car.

Interesting ...

I guess it's possible that it could adopt a different nomenclature but it wouldn't make sense, given that it's apparently a "cross-over" and they're trying to establish "Q" as their cross-over prefix.

We'll see...

I wonder if the speculations about A5 and A4 being launched by the end of 2006 and 2007 respectively , still stand or Audi is going to surprise everyone with an earlier launch of A4.

Re: Audi Roadjet Concept

I remain altogether unconvinced that Audi need a new model in the Q5. I'd prefer to think of this Roadjet as, still, a B8 preview with some unconventional dimensions so as not to give the whole game away.

However, and here's the crunch, I'm also prepared to accept the possibility that this is a fastback preview to the anticipated wagon-shaped Q5. So it's 50:50 speculation right now... we'll have to wait and see.

One fact remains, Audi is so hot right now; they really do have such an exciting next 3 years on the cards for us GCF's...

Re: Audi Roadjet Concept

Audi has confirmed that the Roadjet concept shown at the 2006 Detroit auto show will be sold in Europe soon, but stateside sales are unlikely. In the U.S., expect to see the Q5, a crossover that's more SUV-like, which will better suit American tastes. The Q5 will share its underpinnings with the A4 and Roadjet, but will be taller and more rugged.

So, Roadjet will be a wagon/van/hatch crossover - like forthcoming BMW V3 - and will be sold in Europe, while US aimed Q5 will be a mini sporty SUV - a BMW X3 and upcoming MB MLK competitor.

This is very interesting! I bet noone expected this. We were all expecting the A5 coupe to be the first vehicle using the B8 platform to come into production. I also wonder if the Q5 will be a raised Roadjet or a completely different car.

Or, simply, pure and utter speculation on the part of the source publication.

Maybe "soon" means in two or three years!
