2008 New York Auto Show: Audi Perspective.

Ask an Audi executive for a list of adjectives that might describe one of their target customers and you’re likely to hear words like “affluent”, “city-dwelling”, “hip”, “professional” and the like. That this same grouping of words could easily apply to many a New Yorker is not lost on Audi. Manhattan and its surrounding suburban network are a big market for the Ingolstadt-based car manufacturer – so important that the region was Audi’s first North American-based in the network of Audi Forums around the world. Likewise, the auto show that takes place in the city each spring usually marks a significant debut for the brand. This year, the focus was Audi’s curvaceous new S5, with a pair of identical Brilliant Red S5s displayed at both the Jacob Javits Convention Center and the aforementioned Audi Forum New York on the corner of Park Avenue and 47th Street.

Oh it feels so great seeing these 3 amazing Coupés next to eachother. It jsut shows that Audi is really on a roll!

Btw, breathtaking!

And this RS4 Carbon is rally cool also. Although it could have been little lower:

And I really like the TT Roadster:

Btw, compare the S5 to the RS4 - fronts:

Re: 2008 New York Auto Show: Audi Perspective.

The car is really nice. However, there is something about it that makes me feel that the design will not be long lived in people's minds. Maybe it doesn't look aggressive enough? I bet all of the Audi guys are going to jump on me for this since they all did when I said the samething about the S6. I love the RS4, but this seems to boxy to me or dull. I don't know. Let me see it more and more and give it some time.

Well, Michael. I somehow understand what you are saying. I'm the one who said from the beginning that I thought the A5/S5 front was to corny, especially the lights. But after seing more and more pictures, I really am starting to like it. And if you look closely on the two front pictures of the S5 and RS4, which one looks more modern and future to you? Cause for me, even though I still think the RS4 is a very modern car, next to the S5, it really looks old. Cause looking at the S5 front from that angle, I can see no other then "future".

Re: 2008 New York Auto Show: Audi Perspective.

To be fair to the RS4, these are some of the most unflattering pics I've seen. The set up is too high.

RS4 is a far better looking car than the S5 in my opinion:

This may be another transitioning period for me. In looking at the S5 I am just stunned at the interior. The interior is something that has always made my jaw drop when it comes to Audi's. Holic, I can see the S5 growing on me and evidence of this may be shown in that when I compare it to the RS4, it just looks better. This of course, like I mentioned before, is a transitioning period for me.
