We’re seeing a little bit of tedium with the status quo. The Mercedes, BMW and Lexus brands in certain areas have 20 percent to 25 percent each in marketshare. These cars are stacked up everywhere. I think this is a good market for Audi to distinguish itself in. This is a market that stands out differently. More progress. More modern. It’s an alternative view of luxury.

Bingo! Now how do you get this message across is the problem. They key is getting Audi the same exposure that Mercedes and BMW get. I would aggressively go after their customers with invites to come experience Audis at all levels. Audi's number one problem is that they aren't on most luxury car buyer's shopping list. I truly believe that 6-7 out of 10 people who test drive an Audi for the first time would buy one after they experience one first hand. Their cars are really that impressive. Exposure and improving the image is the task at hand, because the products (great products) are already in place.

Re: Audi’s Aggressive Action Plan For U.S. Market.

This is a great opportunity for Audi. With Mercedes' recent problems and BMW's 'too-radical-for-some' styling, Audi appears to offer the solid, stoic, conservatively cool, cars most of us still associate with German luxury ...but their cars are becoming more emotive and stylish.

I became an Audi fan with the previous A6 and A8 ...I now love the S4/RS4 too.

Although, the current S class is still the king of the large luxury cars, I am eagerly awaiting the next A8 -- things are definitely looking bright for Audi's future.

Re: Audi’s Aggressive Action Plan For U.S. Market.

What did you expect a Mercedes representative to say?

Anyway this is off topic but i thought that everyone knew about the problems Mercedes had for the past few years.

Re: Audi’s Aggressive Action Plan For U.S. Market.

ojis, my point was Mercedes has just been through the most shaky period in the company's history since World War II. Up until very recently there was even talk about breaking the company up and selling it off.

I am not criticizing MB's current products ...all I am saying is things have not been so great for MB over the past few years -- it has taken a serious blow to its traditionally unshakable reputation. This is why the timing is perfect for Audi to make a serious move for the high-end luxury crown.
