The Audi grille sets a new trend?

While still brand new, Audi's current grill design was widely criticized; "It's not facial enough." "It's gaudy." "It's not shaped right for American plates." And so on.

Now, taking a second glance at some of the most buzzworthy new cars at this year's Detroit show, I can't help but notice several prominent new grills with shapes similar to Audi's. It could be my eyes. But if the Camry can sport a Bangled butt, the CTS can most definitely don an Audi maw.

I said this over a year ago here, when I said that since Audi got the big grille, more and more companies are following.

Many follow the german brands, audi,bmw, mb. You cant blame them for copying the best

Audi's vertical grille has banished the old generic 3 layered horizontal front end look of traditional cars design. The top layer include the headlights and the girlle inbetween, the 2nd layer include the bumper bar and the numberplate. The 3rd layer include the lower air intakes. What Audi has done was increasing the emphasis on the grill and headlights, and reducing the dominance of the bumper bar and the numberplate.
