![]() ![]() | Air Race I've been told there will be a Red Bull Air Race event taking place here in April 20 (less than 7 days before my birthday ). I'm excited, it's an opportunity to meet up with friends I haven't seen in quite a while and I missed the previous Red Bull show which consisted of their V10 F1 car making a few parade runs and burning rubber in one of our main streets, so I don't want to miss this one. I am also planning to immortalizing the moment for my memories once I'm out of this country, also I want to take pictures for my friends who won't be able to attend the event and those who are now in another country. The rainy season is stepping in by now, and tips would be advisable. What I'm expecting instead of bright sunshine is cloudy weather with rain chances, although here that kind of weather always has to be taken into account. As for equipment, I have at my disposal a Canon XTi/400D and a 100-300m tele lens. I've read in certain web articles dedicated to this subject that a tripod wouldn't be too impractical because the place will probably be very crowded (given by the location, which I'll provide pics of later on, there ain't that much space to move around). One thing is what web sites tell me. Another is what real live people can tell me in the present. What shutter speeds should I be using more or less? Exposure? I ask for tips and hints in both sunny weather and cloudy with rain probability weather, as they can quickly change over here. Wakeboarding is also said to take place as well as parachuting. Please, I'd love to just share the experience I would have with all of you too by providing useful pictures where I wouldn't have a real need to describe in full detail if I caught the moment in a picture. I hope for your replies ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Re: Air Race I can't take good pictures if I'm not having a good time, so you can be sure I'll enjoy every moment I get to share with my friends. I won't remember the shutter speed in 10 years, what I'll remember will be the good moments we had that day. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Air Race Well I'm back, what an event! Got to meet up with someone I hadn't seen in years, ran into some other people but failed to meet a few. More info later on as I select and edit (if necessary) the best pictures (over 300) and maybe have supper. By the way, guess who got a brutal sunburn ![]() |

![]() ![]() | Re: Air Race Stupid me ![]() Well the event was great, I met up with someone people I hadn't seen in years and failed to meet up with others who I planned to meet too (There's a reason I tell them to get out early, sheesh). We had really strong sunshine and therefore I am damn sunburned now lol, the event began at around 1 PM and the stunt plane was somewhere after 3 o'clock, in the moment while the pilot (Kirby Chambliss, on board of an Edge 540) went to the nearby airport for fuel...a heavy rain came our way and so while many stood under the rain and saw Kirby do the second round of stunts, many of us preferred to avoid catching yet another cold or having them worsen. I saw it, from quite a distance and those far away pics didn't turn out so great like to really bother I think. Still, here are a few out of the whole bunch I took. More to come besides videos. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I like how I caught him saluting straight to where I was. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() This one gives you an idea of how low he was flying at some points ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I hope you enjoyed these, there are a pending few to add. |
