![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | So I have a small little side table that is no higher than a foot tall in my room. Well I usually have my camera sitting on this table as well as other things( laptop, controllers, etc...). One early morning I woke up and my room was still dark, I got up out of bed and the strap for my camera was hanging off the side of this table, naturally my foot just happens to land right in this strap. The camera falls that whole twelve inches onto my foot, I nearly died from the pain in my foot, but I thought my camera was fine. Turns out, its not. I went out to go shoot some thunderstorms, my Audi, and the sunset. But my camera is seriously fvcked. Anything slower than the absolute fastest shutter speed comes out blurred and ghost images, and the leftside has a black fringe on the photo. Plus I can hear the camera struggle with it, and this happens no matter what lens I use. My dial is also fvckd, I can't select Aperature Priority anymore, and the port to connect my camera to the computer is also broken. All from falling less than 12 inches!!! Almost 6 months ago I dropped it at least 4 feet onto concrete, and absolutley no harm came to it, none! What the hell! This Sucks!!!!!! ARGHHH ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

What's an unbelievable coincidence is that I destroyed my camera just yesterday when I dropped it while running. ![]() ![]() Even though I dropped it on burber carpet it was enough to completely destroy the camera. When I attempt to turn it on, it either turns on and then off (quickly) and refuses to extend the mechanical lense; or it ejects the lense, but once on, refuses to focus. It looks like the camera's had 10 glasses of beer.. Furthermore; when I try to zoom out, it turns off... Kodak's site says the repair will cost anywhere from $50 to $200. Problem is, I haven't got that kind of money. I imagine I'll be without a camera for a long while. Last edited by Bruce; 08-05-2007 at 05:32 PM. |

That's something that can't be fixed with money. I'm thinking, if you paid you cameras with a credit card, some have a "protection" thing on it that will cover anything for a determined period of time ( depends an the card). They would replace/ repair the cameras free of charge. could this apply to you? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: My Camera Is F'd! Jeff, I a sorry to hear that this happened to you. This is truly unfortunate. Nevertheless, accidents are bound to happen, and when they do all we can do is just look at what is in the now and try to move foward with a solution. Like Rob said, the camera may just have hit one of those critical weak points on the body. Every camera has this. My camera for instance has a magnesium body, which is comforting, nevertheless, the camera has weak areas that if dropped from the right distance it could damage it permanently. Get in contact with a repair shop or call Pentax directly. They should be able to tell you how much it will cost. Do not pay no more than 40% of what you paid for. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: My Camera Is F'd! Damn, sorry to hear about that Jeff. Very unfortunate. I bought a Kodak Z610 about a year ago. One day I decided to go to the beach. Accidently my camera slipped out of my grasp and fell in the sand. I reached down very quickly and picked it up in a matter of 2 seconds. Nope... damn thing was screwed! Wouldn't even turn on! .. I had the camera for less than a month, so I was really pissed! Took it to the camera-store. They sent it to Kodak.. Kodak sent a letter back saying it was beyond repair, and that they advise me to buy a new one. Hope things turn out ok for you Jeff. ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: My Camera Is F'd! It is interesting to note how much money digital cameras are, yet they can be so fragile. Even with weather sealing, it does not mean that the camera is waterproof. Such equipment is so sensitive sometimes. |
