Devonian Gardens, Calgary - 56k Warning

Took these today. Wanted an open place where I could practice my photography, but having seen them on my PC, I thought I could have done better

Anyways, Devonian Gardens is an indoor garden in the heart of our downtown.

Shame I didn't aim the camera a little higher

These strange sculptures are purposely designed to keep our "Chinook" winds out of the downtown core.

Very nice Bruce. You are getting better and better at taking pictures. I think you are running into a situation that I ran into when I started with photography. You take to many darn pictures and post them. No offense, but I am sure you feel like you want to capture everything because you are afraid of not capturing enough? If this is the case don't worry, I think we all go through this. Just out of curiosity, are you using the digital zoom in your camera? If so don't. That is one of the worst thing one can do. Using the digital zoom actually makes the picture worse because it is not optically zooming but rather, zooming into the pixels.

You are producing very nice photographs. Try to capture what your eye is seeing. Think to why you want to take the picture and angle it and position yourself in the same manner that your eye would find it interesting.

A couple of them came out blurry and that is because you did not have a fast enough shutter speed. I am not sure if that is the effect you were going for though.
What camera are you using?

My main reason for taking so many photographs (and I have even more, which I did not post) was because that's the last time I'll see Devonian Gardens for a long time. So yes, I suppose I did want to capture as much as possible

I took nearly as many photos as my Vancouver trip, despite have much less to actually photograph. Most of them were for experimentation.

My Vancouver trip I used as little zoom as possible, here I did use the zoom function more often. When I had looked at my Vancouver pictures I had felt many of them were too far away.

Regarding the zooming, I'll keep that in mind.

I wasn't really aiming for any effect, the pictures that came out blurry were a result of my shaking hands. Always happens to me, I have much trouble try to taking a picture when standing up. If I had a tripod, or something similar I believe I could better my pictures.

A lot of your pics are great, but you can try to take photos from different angles.
