Re: World Press Award of the Year 2006

Ohh lord whats wrong with this world
seriously i almost started to cry when i saw the pics..

those that got to me:
The dead child, israel attacks
Sniper attack against soldiers iraq
Wounded marine getting married
Mentall hospital inmates africa

i must give credit to these brave men and women that go out and take these pictures in dangerous places..to show us what the world is like
one cant thank them enough..

on the other hand there are some really nice pictures, of the world we live in..
its such a sick contrast against the horrid pics..

i do not know what more i can say..
i just hope that humans can find a way to get along.. cause this is CRAZy..
if there is something i truely HATE (its a strong word) .. it has to be violence..

the leaders of the world should take a look at these pics.. and take their own lifes.. period

PS
Karma for this thread man.. major karma

Re: World Press Award of the Year 2006

At first I thought this was a photoshop. The devastating background and the clean teenagers in a MINI Convertible? It couldn't be. But the more I looked at it, I saw that it was real!

The picture does have an unreal feel to it. It's almost as if they were in the middle of shooting a Mini ad trying to prove that the alleged 'chick car' is actually good for picking up chicks, when the bombing began...

Hmmm...makes you wonder what your society has come to eh? Kids driving around in a fancy car taking pictures of the devastation with their cell phones. Just incredible.

On another note, the photographs in this are incredible. Thank you for sharing this.

I agree with you 100%. This is realy photograph. Being able to capture the emotion and the hard work. A while ago I visted the National Geographic website and started to read about the photographers. One of them gave a tip and it went something like thisby the way, there was a picture being shown of a person climbing a rock) You have to take the picture not of the person climibing, but of the person performing the action of climbing. That is why when you go to take a shot, you simply go for the right moment. The right moment being that minute that he/she is extending his arm to grab the next rock with such strength that only pausing that moment with a photograph shows the true energy and passion behind the act.

If this is a little OT... I love the pictures taken in NG. Just today I was reading about an article regarding Chernobyl - the photojournalist risked his life to take photos and write about the situation now at the radiation-infested site - now that's what I call photography.
