It is the Viaduc de Millau in the south of France. It was designed by the British architect [Lord] Norman Foster - who is most likely the most revered architect in the world today.

Re: Construction of Worlds Highest Bridge. Architecture and Design.

OMG!

This viaduct is very well known too me.

Can't tell why, but you'll see the answer in August / September. I hope. If the plan works.

Riding on the clouds ... Very nice ...

Just amazing...this is getting close to the "wonders of the world" category.
To say it's impressive does not do it justice....

Did he not build that airport terminal which collapsed?

I remember seeing the making of the Viaduct on Discovery a while ago. It's neat how they used radical methods of building given the scale of the project. The toll is rather cool looking too.

I 'm not sure about the airport terminal...but he did design the recent addition to the Joslyn Museum where the light is so dim (his use of mini-skylights pointing to the west!) you can hardly see the work.
Also his main staircase connecting the old building to the new,(the only way into and out of the new building), is so narrow that people coming and going have to form awkward impromptu lines in each direction.
An absolutely horrid job of design that doesn't take into account, um, looking at art and getting into the building.
I have never heard him called "the most revered"- before. He and Daniel Liebeskind are perhaps the most self-revered architects in a profession full of super-inflated egos.

I've seen the construction of this bridge on Discovery Channel... and boy oh boy is this ever impressive!

I also like the fact that they build this bridge to be fancy or anything, it was to preserve the valley and its environment.

I'm pretty sure that terminal was designed by the Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava.

Norman Foster was one of the leaders of High-Tech architecture in the 1970's, he has become one of the most respected architects in the world.

Foster designed the Chek Lap Kok airport in Hong Kong, he also designed the Swiss Re building in London, the renovations of the Reichstag (German Parliament building)
