Think of Sema and your mind will generally reel to the tune of tarmac-scraping body kits, outrageous paintwork and spinners capable of generating wind shear at ground level. Jeep has recently released details of two models destined for the upcoming Sema Show – one fits the chrome and leather-loaded bill, the other could well be driven to the show…overland…from Mongolia.

The Jeep Wrangler Ultimate is a based on the company’s popular four door Jeep Wrangler Limited. In true Sema style the Ultimate sports chrome accents on the (deep breath, now) brake light guards, fuel cap, tubular side steps, wing mirrors, bonnet catches, tow hooks (why?), door handles and parts of the vehicle’s nose. In addition to the masses of brightwork, the Ultimate also wears a unique Liquid Charcoal Pearl paint job.

The interior sports a combination of materials ranging from outdoorsy-durable to executive. The seats are clothed in a hard-wearing orange mesh fabric and grey Nappa leather trim all held together with heavy stitching.

The Ultimate rolls on a set of 18-inch Alcoa forged aluminium alloy wheels, polished to a high shine and shod with massive BF Goodrich Mud Terrain tyres. The suspension has also been modified with a three-inch lift kit from Superlift that also does service on this model’s far more spartan counterpart – the Wrangler JT.

The JT is the antithesis of what you’d expect from a Sema showcar - You could almost picture this model barrelling through a warzone with “UN” stencilled on its doors, as opposed to sitting serenely outside a suburban home.This model uses the Ultimate’s 116-inch wheelbase, but takes the shape of a bakkie with a 5 foot load bed and removable hard top over the cab.

There’s not even a hint of chrome here, accessories consist of a Ramsey 9500 UT winch bolted to the nose and rear bumpers and rock rails from Mopar.

Jeep put the Wrangler JT through its paces in Moab, Utah, where it navigated the unforgiving terrain of the aptly-named Hell’s Revenge trail. S the pictures show, little can stop the JT off-road as it negotiated waterfalls, rocks and a “bathtub” that would see most other vehicles requiring the services of a winch…attached to a helicopter.

There is no word on the possibility of these vehicles finding their way into mainstream production, but looking at the JT, could you imagine a better competitor to the recently launched - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER?

Even though the Wrangler has great off-road capabilities and classic exterior design, i would never buy it though! The engines could be waaaay better and the interior design and quality are just terrible...
