![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 2008 Jeep Liberty I think it looks better than the current model too... This is certainly more reminiscent of the original boxy Cherokee than the current Liberty / Cherokee (in markets outside of the US) which looks too tall and too short proportionally. Also the ground clearance looks much better than the current car's offroad ability stifling 175 mm. An improvement no doubt but nevertheless doesn't change my opinion of the brand. It's not one that I'm too fond of and, judging by the horrendous reliability and running cost experiences of my friends... my slogan for them stands. Jeep is Cheap. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 2008 Jeep Liberty "Jeep is Cheap" Martin, you can't be more right! Jeep has the worst quality interiors than any other up-market SUV i have seen the last years! I really think they should improve in this part! ![]() |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 2008 Jeep Liberty It looks alot more masculine than the current liberty-and i think it is a re-skinned nitro as far as I can tell. The patriot is positioned under the liberty and under the wrangler. The compass is in a different category than the patriot. The Commander on the other hand is the top of the line. So like this Compass Patriot Liberty (is a replacement of the original Cherokee) Wrangler (this is usually priced below the Liberty but if you outfit it with the rubicon package [i.e. locking diffs] it would be closer to grand cherokee price) Grand Cherokee Commander |

![]() | Re: 2008 Jeep Liberty Other way round. It was always Jeep architechture (sorry, I don't have a spell-checker on this computer, it's not my MacBook), but they reskinned it for the Didge, I believe. And frankly, Jeep was never meant to be a luxury brand, in my opinion. I think that's really where they went wrong. All said and done, I really do like how the new Liberty looks. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: 2008 Jeep Liberty Going back to today's thread about design (The "Way 1, 2 or 3" discussion) - Jeep's design sensibilities drive me up the wall. Why? Because they fake form follows function. There's something totally obnoxious about a design that employs "rugged" design cues for cosmetic and emotional effect. I think the '08 Jeep Liberty looks pretty good, but I really can't get over all the details that are designed to look purpose-built, but are, in fact, visual fluff that feign quality construction. It's like the anti-Mercedes G Klasse. Everything you see was designed for curb appeal, not survival. The whole thing is about as raw and authentic as an eposide of "Survivor." Which is to say that its effort to feign authenticity makes it all that more fake. |
