Great write up!
I'm happy to here even in the rain the Quattro system remained sure footed, I'm more & more impressed with these Audi S Tour reviews!

Re: My time in the RS4 and S8

Great read artist!

That sucks BIGTIME Luw, you must've really counted on getting to drive some nice cars. When I went to the tour in Malmö I called them at 16.00 the last day of the tour asking for how long they would be there etc, and they replied with saying that they were going to be there til 18.00 and the chance for me driving was very small. Of course she didn't know that I don't have a license but at least it proves that you don't really need an invitation. You'll get your opportunity Luw

How did the S8 sound at high revs artist?

It was just that dealer which required test drives to have an invitation. The other dealer i visted for 1 or two months ago had no rules. Unfortunatly I arrived one day late, because the police had told the dealer not to allow any more test drives becasue recidents in the area had been complaning about the noise made by the engines.

The Artist has an amazing way of putting his words so simply and expressively as if he had spoken it that everyone can understand it perfectly. Or at least I can. Great review, karma!

Re: My time in the RS4 and S8

Thanks to TheArtist!

It's interesting reading test drive opinions. It's especially interesting to read preferences related to smaller vs. larger cars. Personally, I'm firmly in the smaller saloon camp. I have a larger car - a Saab 9-5 and a smaller saloon - the RS 4. They both serve different roles for my family. If I could keep only one though, it would be the RS 4 - without a doubt. In fact, the larger size kept me from buying the last RS 6.

The quattro system while its gr8 and gives you a feeling of security..it limits the fun somehow.. i couldnt get it to loose grip with esp turned off and it was raining.. ( well i did get it to lose grip..but not in that exteme fun way, it was more of a controlled grip loss)
This says alot about the greatness of the quattro system..and on the other hand it says alot about the fun factor of the RS4..
Interesting...

It's funny how some describe fun factor, as though drifting a car through the turns on the way to work is both commonplace, and reasonable. I won't argue that a drift can be "fun", and on a track or an empty parking lot, a lot of fun.

But frankly, I prefer the stability afforded by the quattro system. It gives us mere mortals a little greater margin of safety and is still remarkably fun to drive. In fact, I'd submit that it's more fun than having the rear-end pass the front-end in a slippery corner. Doughnuts in a snowy parking lot is one thing, but spinning in a tree-lined twisty is quite another.

Give me quattro, a series of twisties and a full tank of gas. I'm there!

Re: My time in the RS4 and S8

You have some good point S4Aero but we all have different desires of what a car should behave like. I am also one of those who would like to play with the car whenever I want to. I at least want the possibility to be there.
