I have been looking at the possibility of moving to a B7 RS4 as a replacement to my E39 M5. However, one thing I am frustrated with is the loss of power for normally aspirated motors at my CO altitude of 6,000 feet (23% power loss here!). From the best that I can gather, a turbo car would lose (compared to sea level) only 5% - 10% of its power where I live here in CO.

I was curious on whether it is possible to find the B5 (turbo) version of the RS4 in the US?

I believe the only way to get a B5 RS4 in the US is to import it, because I don't think they ever sold it here. Unless someone already did that and is now selling it, just be weary of people with A4/S4s that have been modded with RS4 parts.

If that is the case, that might be more of a problem.

One turbo car that I can recommend is the 335i. Not to hijack the thread, but I would definitely cross shop with that car.

Yes, I agree. Believe it or not I am considering the RS4 and the 335i. At my altitude, with an investment of maybe $7k I can add exhaust, ECU remap and some killer wheels. Straight line performance, at my altitude, after mods, would probably best the RS4 and my current E39 M5. Big pluses for the Rs4 is "built for handling", incredible looks and AWD. A minus for the RS4 is the added cost (of course). I am not one of the people who considers the RS4 tobe over-priced. However, I do think the 335I is incredible value whereas I think the RS4 is good value (for what you are paying for).
