Well, actually the FXX is not a one off. It's their test mule for future Enzo replacement where the customers are involved in the testing. And to make the P4 was not ferrari's decision, it was the decision of the owner who bought and Enzo but wanted something different. He then contracted Penin-Farina (spelling?) to design and build it for him. Penin-Farina have been known to make specialized cars for their customers. I'm not sure about whether ferrari stopped giving their F1 drivers cars because Schumi has a bunch of them and I'm pretty sure he didn't buy them.
