| Re: Senna gets out of his car in a race and rescues crashed Eric Comas I think Giannis does have a point. Senna was a legendary driver for his talent and achievements, but his death on the track transformed him. He, much like the great Jim Clark, has a special place in motor racing lore. There is a certain romance, glory that comes from being killed on the track, but I think Senna was already a legend before his death. He was great man. He grew up wealthy and earned great wealth himself, but he always embraced the responsibility of being wealthy in a poor country.
I have read that Senna would have quit racing if he had won 5 World Championships. He had too much respect for Fangio to break the great man's record.
There is a great video on youtube of Senna driving a NSX around Suzuka. A camera shows his footwork inside the car. He blips the gas when he is making a turn. It's a form of human traction control and it was just awesome. |
