Quite a disappointing race in the beginning as I am a McLaren supporter. It remains to be seen if I will be continuing support in 2007 with Alonso there (probably not). It was a simple racing incident with Kimi lifting heavily and causing Montoya to run into him slightly in the rear. It's hard in these low speed parts to react quickly when the guy in front of you suddenly slows up dramatically and you're following very close. You're running very low wing because of the straights and the McLarens were running very heavy fuel, which further hinders your ability to stop on a dime. It's hard to tell from the TV footage exactly what the first thing to happen was, but basically too many cars were going around the corner side by side to all come out unscathed. Unfortunate for Scott Speed in his home GP who qualified well and made a good start passing Webber and I believe another driver. He almost came out of it okay until a car clipped his rear wheel (but he did the right thing by trying to get through where he saw an opening rather than braking to an almost standstill and losing a lot of time). I'm mildy surprised they didn't restart the race with how much happened there.

Sato up to his usual antics of taking out Midlands and other cars with overly optimistic maneuvers.

Poor luck for Villeneuve who was on a new engine.

Trulli coming from pitlane drove a very good race and was aided by all the retirements, but showed his race form isn't always sub-par. He was close to Fisichella by the Roman's second stop, but in the end was not able to get past as the Renaults are clearly the faster car. It does show the dominance of the Bridgestones at Indy, though.

Schumacher getting the win as I predicted with Massa cleary being his #2 as Ferrari team orders are put to use in the pits as not to violate rules and make it more blatantly obvious. Great drive from Massa nonetheless as this was almost like a win in his heart (best finish ever).

The story of the day was good racing from the Italians with Fisichella taking the 3rd spot on the podium and outperforming his World Champion teammate while Trulli making a great drive from pit lane and Liuzzi getting STR their first point ever.
