It was mostly Rosberg's fault. He should have given him more room but instead closed the door because the kid isn't used to F1's more aggressive drivers (he has said in these situations in GP2 his competition would have lifted a bit). The fact was that he cut the chicane and should have ceded his track position to Montoya. Montoya was forced onto the curbing/grass too far and lost control as a result given no room to go anywhere on the track. By then, it was too late to brake and avoid an accident because he wouldn't have had the traction to do so anyway.
