![]() ![]() | Re: Official: 6-series facelift How can you be dissapointed, it's not like we didn't know what this car was gonna look like for months in advance I love it. Always thought this car had a lot of presence and the new frontbumper only ads to that. Not sure about the new led's in the rearlights though, the structure. Will have to see a night-shot before making a final judgement. |

I miss the wheels that were pulled from the Z9 GT showcar. I think that was a masterstroke that deserved a direct sequel. | |

I first seen the finished car in mid 2001 - 2 years before release and I agreed then that this will be a classic BMW in the vain of the CS/CSL - When you see this car in Sapphire Black with those elipsoid 19"wheels it just oozes passion and beauty - every line works it does not look staid and unexciting , Just a very futuristic and modern approach to contemporary design. The next generation 6er Coupe and Cabrio will adhere to this by offering an evoloutionary approach in it's design. Why Chris Bangle is loved @ BMW is the reason that he thinks without the box - design just cannot be one shape or form - Bangle forseen change and he ran with it making BMW the no 1 luxury manufacturer today. People debate whether BMW has instigated it's new approach to design as seen on the CS Concept Car as a reply to the negative comments of the Radical Bangle years. But looking at the CS you see indeed it is radical , If role reverse happened and it was the CS that appeared before the Z9 Concept Car I do not think it would have gained universal appraise for it's looks - Because of the Bangle years we have come attuned to the BMW design philosophy , brainwashed even or come round to their thinking (like a cult) That we understand it and we have embraced it. Look at idrive - everything was changing and there was always "driver interface controls" in every concept car - BMW made it a reality and now everyone offers an interpretation of idrive . I will not go into an argument of which interface is better , but I will say this - idrive takes time to learn and master - journalists who have a car for a few hours cannot learn everything in that space of time therefore did not completely understand it and reported the difficulty of using the system when all you need is time and patience , I can use it with ease , I know what to look for and how to enter it , find it and control it.
