Actually I think it is a rather well-executed mod, in the sense that it looks like it was part of the boot and not just an add-on.

Still, I'll never do something like that to my car - I'll get a 997 GT3 instead!

Nope, top speed doesn't really affect track performance.

In today's age that would imply faster acceleration, cornering, superior g loads, and braking due to improvements in materials, aerodynamics, rigidity, tyre composition, gearbox, suspension, brakes, electronics and so on.
