I do understand what you are saying, but often there are circumstances beyond their control that can effect a person's outcome. If you are born into family with 3rd or 4th generation of unemployment that places no real importance on education and the only successful people you see around you are drug pushers and pimps .........well I think it is slightly dismissive and unfair to completely blame that person if they don't prosper in life.

It is easy to say that people are responsible for their outcome in life ...but it is not always quite as easy as that ....some people try very hard, work very hard, and yet never manage to succeed. There are also issues of prejudice, whether that be racial, gender, disability, or even the way a person speaks - life can be very unfair at times to some people - I don't think we should always assume it's their own fault.
