Re: Could an M7 be on the way?

Panke said an M-powered version of BMW’s flagship 7 Series would be developed in response to market demand, but primarily to battle Mercedes-Benz’s fire-breathing S63 AMG.
I very much doubt Panke would just come out and say that. He's not the type of guy who would just make a statement like that. In various interviews, he mildly hints at a prospect of a car, but hardly ever does he just state it so bluntly.

M7 details remain virtually non-existant, but we'll speculate that when it arrives it could be fitted with the 5,0-litre V10 already familiar to M5 and M6 owners.
Pretty stupid speculation there. BMW can't make enough of those engines as it to feed the demand for the M5 and M6 (Hence the delay of the M5 Touring and the M6 Covertible) ....so making an M7 with the same engine... well, wouldn't that take a while to deliver to customers.
There could be a possibility of a high-performance version of the V12 BMW already have inthe 760i/iL ....but just this whole idea of a M7 based off the current 7 series sounds a bit fishy.

I think BMW would be concentrating more on developing that hybrid engine rumoured for the current 7er.
I think an M7 for the next generation of the 7er is going to happen.. but not off the current platform. Not say I don't want to see one... I'd sure love to see what M could do with the 7er, but in the end, no amount of electronic stabilisers and blah blah blah could really turn the current 7er into something that delivers on M's philosophy.

* Now as for the baby Rolls Royce. Hmmm.. that i think could well be a posibility...but that wouldn't happen any time soon since they're already busy developing that drop-top. But it sure would be a good idea.. something like a Bentley CGT size and price range.
