Re: Mercedes SLR could have a successor

Well I'm not surprised the SLR is not selling all that well. The truth is, Mercedes-Benz, although a great manufacturer, is not in the business of building "dream cars" or supercars - Mercedes re-built it's [post-war] reputation by making practical luxury cars (with a couple of notable exceptions) for a relatively conservative market - The successor to the SLR should not be named a Mercedes, but rather just McLaren (as the article suggests) - this alone will help the cars image. Mercedes should leave this market to Pagani, Ferrari, and Porsche - they just do it better.
