Re: Macbook Air!

OK, So I know I am in the minority here but I love the Air. So much so that I already have one.

I must say though that I agree with some of you that the people who will be buying it mostly are the ones who want to look cool but it isn't just for that. I was in the market for a laptop and more specifically a Mac laptop. For me it isn't so muc about the hardware as it is about the software and more specifically OS X. I know 10.5 hasn't been the best of them all in terms of reliability but it's just soooo much better than Vista which I used exclusively on my SZ for about 2 months when I was with a broken MacBook and waiting for the new rumored ultra-portable or new MacBook Pro.

Onto the Air. Yes it has a lot of problems already mentioned by the previous posters (unreplaceable batery, one USB etc.) but for me it doesn't matter. I need it to work on my programming for school, and for almost everything day to day. It works absolutely brilliant for me and I must say I was skeptical about the fixed RAM and 1.8 GHz processor but it has held up extremely well to the previous computers I've used. I haven't noticed any slowdowns etc.
This laptop has been the best fit for me because I hate using small keyboard, tiny screens, Windows anything, and it will be the perfect addition for me when I travel back home which is a loooong 20 hour+ flight. I always used to check-in my laptop in m baggage rather than carry it around because of the weight but now I manage to always keep it on hand so I can use it throughout and not get bored watching in-flight movies.
I must mention, in the 2-3 odd weeks I've had this thing, I have used the CD drive once to install Office and Windows (under VMWare). Though anyone who thinks this could be their only computer is delusional and is just buying it for the looks.

This computer is more of a niche product than anything else. The SZ which I've used doesn't hold a candle to this and in terms of solidity, and usability. Yes it has more ports but I seem to get a lot more done on OS X than on Windows period. That said, I wish they would've added better speakers and one firewire port to use the awesomeness that is Target Disk mode.
