If by "airport" they mean : piece of land where you can land a plane ( regardless of size/weight), then I understand places that are more dedicated to "cargo" count same as people-mover type airports.

then yes.. much "cargo" flows out of Colombia
I assume by airport they mean commercial or municipal.

South American countries are immense, and most are covered with thick rainforest or are very mountainous. Therefor air travel is probably the easiest way to move about the continent. I certainly wouldn't want to take a Bus through the backwoods of Columbia...
