Why do so many American academics battle with self-loathing?
The US is not a terrible country at all ....and most Americans are not unreasonable and selfish -- well no more than anyone else.
Honestly, I think if the US is guilty of anything, it is this constant self indulgent analysis of "everything that is wrong with the US" -- no country on Earth is perfect.
As for Socialism being the answer to all of life's problems -- give me a break, Socialism destroys creativity, individuality, and prosperity. Capitalism certainly is not perfect, but has contributed far more to the advancement of civilization than Socialism could ever do. |
