| Liberal Bias In The Media?
If you've watched, listened to or read any American media you have undoubtedly heard people complaining about the "liberal media."
What do you guys think? Is it really there? and is it as bad as conservative blowhards like Bill O'Reilly make it out to be?
Personally, I think it is way overblown. All the big national news organizations are run by big corporations, which traditionally back conservative values. Sure certain anchors might have a liberal bias, but they are still muzzeled to ensure they don't offend their advitisors and corporate backers.
For example; CNN and Wolf Blitzer were running a piece criticizing Michael Moore's film Sicko, and immeadiatley after, as Moore pointed out, the first commercial after that segment was for a big pharmacutical corporation promoting some drug.
I think the best place to get news is from Public Broadcasting, such as NPR and PBS etc... That way you can be sure none of them are pandering to sponsors, advitisers, and corporations. |
