Ahem, not quite Marcus. It is true that Wilhelm Maybach was the technical director at Daimler for a while but he left in 1907 to start his own company -- Maybach also conceived engines for the Dutch company Spyker.

The Maybach cars were not related to Daimler-Benz at all. Daimler-Benz bought the Maybach brand in the 1960s.
