I would reckon they should go with a lighter, smaller twin-turbocharged engine for the AMG version. A 4.0 V6 Twin-Turbo with 460 Bhp with two mini turbos for each three cylinders (just like in the BMW 335i) would do fine, because there would not be any turbo-lag at all and the weight at the front would be a whole lighter than a big V8 shoehorned under the bonnet.

Besides, smaller Turbocharged engines are new trend from now on; because they are more powerful and yet they are more economical and pollute less than a bigger normally aspirated engine. Expect to see the return of the Golf GTI 1.6 with 4 mini turbos for each pair of cylinders producing 400 Bhp.
