I guess BMW opted Z2 roadster over 1er cabrio. And itis possible they are considering 1er 3-door shooting-brake over 1er coupe.

I guess they are analyzing which variant has best chances in the worldwide markets and will be most profitable.
There is surely no space for a cabrio AND a roadster based on 1er platform. Nor 3-door hatch, SB AND coupe.
BMW will have to choose one open roof vehicle, and one solid closed roof one for production.
