I see your point, but unfortunately there is a difference between the size of the US and the size of many other countries. When a country is not that big--not in all cases though but in most--they can exert more power. This power can be seen in the form of education or whatever. Many countries also have different types of economies. Some are service based while other are industrial based(there are hybrids and the list can go on on how many different types of economies there are). The point here is that the US is a big country where the demographics are spread out. There are so many cultures that mingle together. So, certain states where unfortunately people favor or follow a certain belief. I am pretty sure, though, that for the most part there are ignorant people. The US is the 3rd largest country in the world. Take into consideration how many immigrant just to get a plain and simple job to provide for their country. When you compare the US to other european countries, you see a sense of nationalism. Many countries don't allow you to acquire a citizenship--the US does. Do you see the difference? There are so many different types of people with so many different types of backgrounds. So, if the majority is like that, do you expect them to know little intricate details? I am amazed that there was a question about Al-Qaeda and some couldn't answer it. I would guess that even those that believe in the US's position should know who Al-Qaeda is and how bad they are--but I guess that is not the case.
