Here's a video of the Leipzig plant where the 1er 3dr and the 3er Sedan is produced.

Dedicated to all of those who are expecting a 3dr 1er...just something to feast your eyes at...and think that your car will be produced there sooner or later, or has already been produced...enjoy...

Re: Official pics & info: facelifted BMW 1-series + 3dr version

OK people...just drove the BMW 120i 3dr!!!!

I have to say that the car is AMAZING!! The steering that everybody talks about...is 100 times better than the old steering. At low speeds and at parking is light (and the car that I drove did not have the active steering) and at high speeds it is hard and very very very communicative and full of feel and feedback!

The brakes were also amazing!!!

Consumption at the test car (that everybody drives the hell out of it) was at a surprising 11.1lt/100km! This can go easily under 10lt/100km.

Start/stop is lots of fun!!! When the car has reached its desired engine/coolant temperature and the cabin has also reached its desired A/C temp then when you come to stop and shift to neutral...the engine switches off. The A/C and radio still works...although the A/C does not work at 100%, more like 60%...and if you sit in traffic, you will get hot. When the car "feels" that the engine needs to run, for example if you are at a stop...and the Start/Stop has switched off the engine and you switch on the circulation of the A/C or lower the degrees of the A/C (climate control), it will switch it on. If the Auto Start/Stop has switched off the engine...if you just touch the clutch pedal the engine come back on...by the time you have fully depressed it and shift into first...the engine is at normal RPM. I found no flaws really of the Auto Start/Stop system.

Performance. The car drives faster and feels livelier that the older 120i. It feels that it has more grunt above 3,000 rpm. From 1,000 to 3,000 it is not that alive...over 3,000rpm...you're good to go! The car can also slide its rear end at the driver's demand. Switch on the DTC...and with 2nd and 3rd gear...it'll slide!

Driver's position is also fantastic. You seat low...and you feel that you are "wearing' the car.

Handling. The car handles and hugs turns with ease! You can feel the 50/50 weight distribution...you point it...press the gas and it just turns...no unndersteer...no oversteer...nothing...just g-forces! Trully amazing!!!

All that from a 30minute test drive which I did at the "Discover Driving Pleasure" event here in Greece for the 1er 3dr and 3er Coupe-Convertible launch. The car that I drove was a montego blue 120i Sport edition with the standard M-Sport suspension and 17inch 142s wheels with different tyre width front and rear.

CAN'T wait for my car to arrive!!!!

Some pics...

I couldn't. I wasn't allowed to. We had to jump into the car...fix the driving position and begin the test drive.

Re: Official pics & info: facelifted BMW 1-series + 3dr version

Attention BMW 1er 3dr people who have ordered their 1er sometime beginning of May...

...what has the dealer told you? Have they responded you with a delivery date or a manufacturing date?? He said that we would have known by 10th of June...but I have had no word from him yet...and I am worried about a possible delay since the 1er Coupe will be assembled in the same plant as the 1er 3dr.

Can Scott or EnI help on that info? Is there going to be a delay on the 1er 3dr production line due to the fact that the 1er Coupe will be assembled also at Leipzig?

Re: Official pics & info: facelifted BMW 1-series + 3dr version

Just got a call from the dealer. My production week is week 31, so that means July 30th until August 3rd.

He told me that presumably (if all goes according to plan) I should pick-up my car some time between August 20 until August 24. This basically depends on the work load of the Greek port staff and truck drivers. The car will arrive on time (depending on the day that it will be assembled, tested and shipped) between August 13 till August 17 as scheduled and he assured me that there will be no delay on behalf of BMW.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that it will all go according to plan!

Did I say that I AM VERY EXCITED??!!! I AM!!!

Niko: BMW Hellas is one of the very few importers that doesn't use the Patra's port to import their vehicles, so there is no way i could see your car before you

If they used the local port i could easily take some pics of your car before final delivery as i know where they park the cars when they arrive and it's quite easy to see and photo them!

I'll find out when time comes where they ship their cars. I think most cars now come straight to Perama (Pirea). I don't know if they come through Patra. If you can, try to have a look at the port there (where you said you can have a glimpse) and check if BMW has any cars there.

If you'll find and photo my car (when it arrives there) it will be REALLY nice of you!!!!
