What!! You mean the E90s are fake! that probably expains why BMW didn't promote Celis LEDs in their E90 brochure

By the way EnI, when you said thet the FL E60 is going LED, do mean that they're going to use full LED bulbs like 6 Series? or just Celis LED?

Kinda cheesy isn't it? BMW faking their own bit. You know the drill - LEDs come at the facelift, then it gives everybody something to ooh and aah about. Meanwhile, 3ers sell like hotcakes regardless, and BMW is able to shiv $100 or so off every unit they sell. Probably factors in pretty large on the bottom line.

At least the E92 has CELIS LED right out the door!

Yep, the CELIS LED lights on the E90 are not real. It took me ages to find out, because they really do look like LEDs when you drive behind one.
However, the lights aren't bright enough to be real, and you can see the difference with ease when a BMW with real LED lights stands next to it (as Osna said.)

That PS Eni posted looks promising. The bumper is better looking here imo. But I still hope they get completely rid of those ugly protection strips on the front and back. Ugly.


That's a good question. The LEDs I have on my 6er are far better than any other BMW model somehow. Really bright, really awesome!

I gotta say that I'm not really feeling this facelift (going by Huck's PS).

The mouth looks very similar to the facelifted Z4, but the original 1er's mouth looked rather cute and happy-chappy which matched the rest of it's face, but now, as Osna said... it looks too hyped up.

Hope it's just another case of small details making the whole picture look a lot better and cohesive.

I agree with klier... those protection bumpers are out-dated, especially compared to the rest of the BMW range... but I guess they put them there to look just a wee-bit 'cheap'. Still, they gotta go.

It looks like the 6er has a hybrid CELIS and standard bulb LED setup. So you get a double-whammy of optic trickery. The horizontal CELIS lights are always lit and the bulbs kick in when you hit the brakes. Awesome looking lights I tell you.

One wonders if/how BMW could one-up this with the F01 7er.

I don't think there is a need to one-up the E63 6-series light design; they just have to make sure the F01/02 has the same functionality. It's perfect and I wouldn't know what they coud do to make it better...

Didn't know that, sorry Osna I guess you have to see for example a E90 and E92 side by side to see the difference, like you are saying, but I have to see my first E92 yet
I agree the rear lights on the 6er are amazing... Saw one passing by last week, couldn't keep my eyes off it The LED bulbs are really bright...
