As an Antriebsquelle, the 3,2-Liter-Sechszylinder of the current M3 with 343 HP in question would come. Yet M1 not probably will be named the extreme Sportgefährt Soruce:autozeitung |

BMW is in dilema: M1 already exists, so M1 name can not be used. Therefore it's more likely 1er Coupe & Cabrio will be named 2-series -> M2. No decision has been made yet though. The other dilema: S54 engine is too heavy for E87 platform. Puting this engine in M2 will compromise handling - not an option for M. BMW are developing I4 VTT engine which will likely to end in M-GmbH hands and consequntly in the new M2. But it's a turbo: a dilema here is that turbo will brake M rule. There is also a dilema whether to put N54 I6 VTT 330HP engine in 1er/2er: making 135i / 235i. But this would kill M horsepower dominance. I guess BMW will have to chose between 135i/235i and M2. But in the 2002i in mind I guess heavy 135i/235i will be put on ice. And much agiler "si" and M versions will come instead: bringing new truly drivers BMW - a pure BMW. But all depends on US markets conditions since US is a largest market for high-end models. | |
