![]() | Re: M version Yes or No!!! The idea of an M1 sounds great, but what motor would they use? The S54 motor from the E46 M3 would be no big deal for me. Everyone knows the N54 is underrated by bmw and in reality makes similar power. I hope an M1 is coming, but I don't see it coming soon. God please let me eat those words. My rationale: The Z4M has roughly a 80HP gap from the next closest model, the 3.0. The M3 has 100+ over the 335, M5,M6 > 100 from the 550/650. The Z4 has about 80HP less than the M3, and the M3 has about 80 less than the M5/M6. If the M1 had say 80 less than the M3, that would put it at 340, the 135i already underrated at 306. An all new motor would have to be developed, something in the 370HP range. I could see that being dropped into both the 1 and the Z4. M's are not all about motor though, if bm were to implement an M1 study that included lighter weight components, even more direct and precise steering, LSD, more aggressive aerodynamics package an M1 could truly be something special indeed. ![]() |

![]() | Re: M version Yes or No!!! Still have to see the M pitted against the competitors. The disappointment sounds like normal disappointment from too much hype. I just hope bmw is in tune with the few purists out there that do like a certain raw aspect of M cars and fills that gap with something like a M1 or M3 CSL that come sooner rather than later. Bmw has me praying a lot lately, not sure I like that. |

![]() Of course BMW won't say : "Hey, do not buy a "pocket-rocket-ish" 135i, or bloody expensive M3! Wait for our upcoming M1: a more affordable real pocket-rocket with a genuine raw BMW driving feeling." But when the right time comes ... ![]() | |
