What are your favorite 1 series features

OK, so I've never had a 1 series before. Not available where I'm from, so I'm by default a 3 series kinda guy. I was originally not planning on getting a car while I'm here in Germany, was planning on getting E92 M3 when I returned home, but bm has done it to me once again and released a car (135i) that I'm just finding it hard to say no thanks I'll pass.

I plan on going to the dealer today and discuss initial steps of ordering the car. I was really curious as to what are some features whether standard or optional, on the 1 that owners either loved or felt are a complete waste of money. If you could please be so kind as to give some details as to why you loved or regretted it. Not anything you wished it had but technically don't even exist as options, please. Hey I wished my previous cars had a HUD too.

Thanks in advance.

First of all...I'd like to congratulate you on your choice.

I will categorize some options...starting with the most necessary ones, considering that you will opt for the "Sport" equipment level (or dynamic pack I think in Germany), the one that already includes Sport seats (with variable lateral support like the M models), aluminum inserts, 17inch wheels and M-suspension which lowers the car by 1.5cm:

Must Have:

1. Xenon headlights
2. Chrome-line, exterior
3. Park distance control
4. Lights package

Could have (if your budget allows it):

1. i-drive
2. M-Sport pack
3. Leather
4. Hi-fi professional
5. Electronically folded mirrors

Personally...I added all four items from the "must have" list...plus number 5 from the "could have" list.

Color of my choice was montego blue.

Good luck!

Nikos, thanks. I'm with you on 1,3,&4 on the must have's. 1ce you go xenon, I don't think you can go back, especially the adaptive ones. Have to say I prefer the shadowline trim though.

I think the only thing I will likely get from the could haves is #4. Not very interested in idrive, but I want the best audio option available at the time. Which reminds me, I remember reading in one of the press releases something about aluminum speaker grilles, I haven't seen that in any of the interior photos or videos. That would be so sweet, I love it in the B&O systems in the Audi's.

Won't the 135i come standard with the M-package which I would think would include the sport seats and more aggressive suspension? I'm confused.

Went to the dealer earlier and didn't find out much, but he did show me the notice they received today (via email) actually regarding the 1 coupe. He's checking to see if he can email it to me and will get back to me tomorrow. I couldn't understand much as it was all in German. The only thing I noticed right away was the there are several other wheel choices of course. I pikced up the M3 brochure which they also just received. Oh man, what a magnificent car!! I love the photography they use in the brochures.

Nikos I would love to see pics of your car if you don't mind sharing. Are they posted in the forum already?

Re: What are your favorite 1 series features

Xenon and i drive is the most important..
both cause they inhance the look of any car...inside and out..
leather seats will give you a pretty good value for the money..

other than that.. whatever you please..

on 1er the interior looks the same with and without I-drive. Just like new C.class the screen to idrive is "folded".

Btw hardly anyone pick i-drive for 1er, its a rare sight. so imo, skip i-drive and only add it if you feel you have cash over or something.

I'd love that too mate!

The thing is that my car is on order and should arrive by the end of August. As soon as I pick it up, I'll take TONS of pics which of course will be posted on the forum!

I cannot wait for that special moment!

I'm getting mine 2-3 weeks after yours and I'll post photos too Niko, lets see who manage to "drive in" the car first. You have two weeks to do it
