If these brands were in a boldness fashion contest, yes Audi would lose hands down to BMW and Alfa.

What I meant by my VW/Audi comment is that their cars are very clean, they may not incite the wildest of emotions in either direction (positive or negative), but I think most will say they are generally pleasing to the eye. My buddy back home his dad has an S8, that is a supremely sophisticated looking automobile even though it is a bit dated. Turns heads EVERYWHERE we go and this was in Miami FL where nice cars abound. Another good choice for that type of thing is the Merc CLS as long as it has a sport package.

As long as a car is not ugly and the performance and refinement are up to the standards I look for I will consider that car. I don't necessarily buy cars to make a visual statement. I guess I'm actually an understated kind of guy myself. That's why I've always loved bmw's, they make cars for people who love the experience of driving and the engineering that goes into making a car that has soul. That's what sells cars to an enthusiast, well that's what sells to me anyway. In the small car near luxury segments, BMW has the best offerings IMO.

I love the discussion though. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. There could be 10,000 responses by tonight saying this is the ugliest car ever, I'm still heading to the dealer this weekend to find out about putting down a deposit. God let me find some1 that speaks English!

Well that was a long winded resposne. mate
And a good too!

I agree with you in everything you have stated. Yes Audis/VWs have cleaner lines...but they are not so rounder around the edges as Alfas and BMWs...and that is what makes the latter ones prettier I think.

But I buy on driving experience and driving pleasure also. That is why I ordered the 120i 3dr. I have had the Alfa 147 for 3 years now...and if I wanted a good looking car (and just a good looking car) I'd buy the Alfa GT which is way prettier than the 1er 3dr...but I chose performance and driving pleasure over design.

I hope I made the right choice.

Now, linking all these back to this thread...I guess that what we should have in our heads is the beauty depends on the eye of the beholder

Re: Spied: BMW 1-Series coupe, part 2 (fully exposed 135i!)

Day 2... after a good night's spleep, my second opinion at this point indicates that I'm warming up to the rear.

I guess this is the same old Bangle-trick he used on previous cars... I hate something at first, and then after mulling it in, I start to like it. Damn you Mr. Bangle

Re: Spied: BMW 1-Series coupe, part 2 (fully exposed 135i!)

I like donuts too. But it cost a shit load of money spending on rubber

lol

I have 3 door version 130i

i like hatches. This 1 coupe i need to see it on official bmw pics. I can t judge it by those bad pics.

I also hope for an M version which is not costing an arm and a leg. I am not a big fan of bmw turbo engines. It s a good engine but i prefer high reving M engines. The fastest atmo enigine is the 130i atm. So that is what i bought. The wait is for the M version for the 1 series then i can spend some money again. This car screams for M treatment. Wide body big brakes 350hp 6 cil engine Limited slip diff hmmm lovely. I also would love an M version 3 door hatch which weighs less than 1300kg. That would be something special which bmw M has never done. M hatch i be the first in line.

Ahh ...so two guys here will own a 3 door hatch -- well maybe it will become a cult car for young guys.

you mean 5dr 130i? 3drs recently joined the market or did you switch your 5dr recently for a 3dr?

Re: Spied: BMW 1-Series coupe, part 2 (fully exposed 135i!)

Looks very nice - except for the rear. I'll wait until I see it in real life before making my final decision. Overall it looks good. Same interior as the regular 1-Series I assume?

I still can't believe that this car is going to be available in 135i form: that's just insane! Can you imagine the performance this thing will deliver? Powerful engine + reasonably lightweight car = do the math!

totally there are 5 members with a 1-series (5dr/3dr) if we count Caws sister.
Which mean only 1 out 5 are females and none of us are old

Re: Spied: BMW 1-Series coupe, part 2 (fully exposed 135i!)

i have had 5 doors 130i since it was introduced in holland. The car has done 50.000 very very hard km with me. We use it as a second car the wife drives my ex 5 door me a new 3 door 130i.

The 1 series is no natural beauty i still don t like the big headlights. But the damn car drives so good. It feels like a glove i put on. I must say i had an M3 E46 before this. So i needed to upgrade a few things on the 130i to make it suit me. So my car has a Recaro race seat/Limited slip diff/Race suspension on soft setting. My car is so much better than an E46 m3 in driving. But i really miss an 8000 rpm M engine.

If i could put wide wheel arches and smaller headlights on it and last but nog least a csl engine i have the perfect Q car. Not much police attention just perfect.
