Btw, not just from BMW.

I'm 100% sure Huckfeldt is exposed to some sketches, pics of finished clay models, or in very early phase just told about design cues & features. Having a sense for impressions, CGI, and in combination with exceptional memory, he produces VERY interesting and very accurate CGIs.

Regarding BMW advertising in CSS I do not remember saying that. But I said I was 100% sure BMW officially monitored the CSS and even posted in it.

Officially? Come on n ow Tine. CSS is nothing more than a fansite. There might be BMW employees posting on that forum, but that is how far it goes.

What is it you mean with 'BMW posted in it'??

BMW do officially monitor forums & automotive news sites & blogs. I can confirm that. When working for a while in a marketing communications agency, my colleagues from PR services were doing that for our local BMW unit. Regarding how small our market is, I'm 110% sure other BMW units and a parent BMW AG are monitoring (themselves or outsourcing it) the internet (incl. forums & blogs) even more.

Also knowing EVERY big corporation has a "department of misinformation" / "counterintelligence service" / "guerilla unit", or whatever you want to call it. They "unofficially" create rumours, buzz, anticipation in genereal public - over the media incl. internet (forums, blogs, news sites).
It's not official PR, but their "underground" unit - working undercover, but with same objective: to launch BMW's message along.

And CSS being an established forum of future / potential new cars it's a perfect place to start the rumours about future BMWs.
Many times info from CSS is posted in other automotive forums / blogs / news sites. So ... sum 1 + 1. Debate = maximum publicity. Perfect marketing tool. Keeping brand awareness alive all the time.

Re: BMW 1-series variants: Scott26 reports

Its the same for M5board.com. BMW is monitoring the page. BMW sends new info to Gustav and he can also borrow a M5 or M6 for carreviews. M5board.com is wellknown at BMW.

Enthusiasts are perfect warriors / tool for spreading the brand / product awareness, promoting it, or even trying to convert other people to enthusiasts. Thank you.

Btw, it's not BMW doing that. But for now their approach is the most "aggressive" one.

Since some links from CSS lead to this board, I'm sure they do - or did.

Do not imagine they monitor all the specific sites daily, but they do "run through" periodicaly.
